Sarah Jean Foster is the Student Life Minister at Singing Hills. She was born and raised in Oregon. She has attended Singing Hills Christian Church since she was 6 years old. Sarah was blessed to be raised in a Christian home. Her parents were very involved in her life and have played a huge part in her spiritual development.
In the 4th grade, Sarah gave her life to the Lord. However, not until she reached 7th grade did she really start to grasp what it truly meant to be a follower of Christ. Derek Voorhees came to Singing Hills at that time and had an impact on Sarah’s life. He was able to teach Sarah, by example, what it meant to go into the world and share Jesus without being afraid. At that point, Sarah’s Faith became very real and it was evident that Christ was her best friend.
Since she was little, Sarah always loved to be outside! She loves any sport, but prefers volleyball, basketball and softball. She graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1995. She was able to play volleyball at Cascade College and graduated with a BA in Liberal Studies and a 2nd major in Christian Service in 1998. Upon graduation she worked at the City of Beaverton in Records Management until God called her into full-time paid ministry. Sarah has always had a love for children, especially those overseas. She’s traveled the world and spent a significant time in Kenya and New Zealand. Her last mission’s trip was in the fall of 2005 to Kenya to work in the slums. Lord willing, her next trip will be to Kalimantan to visit her dear friends Isaac and Amber Rogers who are Mission Aviation Fellowship missionaries. Sarah’s life passion has always been to serve God. She loves to share His Good News to anyone, from one side of the world to the other.
Her favorite verse is Psalms 34:7 which says,
“Delight yourself in the Lord and He will
give you the desires of your heart.“
Sarah’s desire has always been to be a wife and mom. In July of 2004, Sarah was joined together with Jeremy Foster and was also given the opportunity to be a step-mom. She has two step-children, Madison and Nathan. The Foster Family was blessed with twin boys born on December 31, 2009!
Jeremy is a Deputy Fire Marshal for Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue and is also Sarah’s assistant. He’s always behind the scenes helping her with a variety of tasks. They make a great team and enjoy serving God together! Their main hobby as a couple is to go 4-wheeling in Florence, Oregon. Their advice to any married couple is to find a hobby that you enjoy together and make the time to go and do it! It’s been a huge blessing to their marriage!
